Puttum Kadalayum

that I cooked for dinner today tasted good, infact very good.Was it the memory of amma neatly layering coconut and the puttu podi or was it the memory of me circling around the kitchen trying to smell the fresh steam coming out of the puttu maker?Nah, I think it was also the mental picture of the corner hotel where I used to go and order " chetta oru puttum kadalayum parcel cheyyane" and how I would keep smelling the puttu wrapped in a fire roasted banana leaf all the way back home - all the memories came flooding and with every bite, the puttum kadalayum warmed my heart and my taste buds

ME: What are your goals for this year?

TH: Have a nice garden,pay the car loan and generally be happy.

ME: Do you want to know what mine are?

TH:Ya tell me

ME: Lose weight, work out more,bake a lot of cakes and pies.

TH: Didn't you have the very same goals last year too?

This Diwali

I found one more way to add some Lbs by gobbling 3 rava ladoos, 1 mysorepak,2 handfuls of mixture, countless thattais and 6 dry fruit sweets.

New cook (IHS)

HE:I thought the new cook will start her job today.Where is she?

SHE: Oh she came, we talked.I felt she talks too much.My gut feeling told me not to go ahead with her,so I decided to let go of her

HE:Really?Even you talk too much, didn't I marry you?

Oh what joy

in sending the little one to my mom in next room and sleeping for that extra 10 mins
in not having to make breakfast and just help yourself to piping hot idli/dosa

ME: hmm..nothing..you didn't goof up much and thus no food for thought

Its super hot

about 90 F outside.I shower 2 times, dress up in crisp cotton,switch on the fan and sit on couch with a glass of ice cold water.
TH tosses his shirt onto the floor,hurries up the stairs and comes back with a towel around his waist.

Grrrrrrrrr...

You know you are too busy when

you serve dosa batter instead of yogurt on the table ( gasp
you realize you haven't had a bath
you wear pink flip flops one feet and black on the other
you make grocery lists while peeing
you hop on the car and drive out of the garage not realizing the unlocked door

Haha!!
